Coaches & Facilitators
An optional resource for coaches and facilitators
If you support adults who have chosen voluntary testing as part of their own goals, P in the Cup can take the scheduling off your plate. Your client sets it up, controls what you see, and can stop at any time.
The random scheduling and accountability service is free. Test kits and any laboratory testing are purchased separately.
What this is not
P in the Cup is not a clinical tool, a legal or forensic testing program, or mandated monitoring. It is not suitable for court, probation, employer, licensing-board or other compliance purposes: it does not collect specimens, observe collection, maintain chain of custody, or verify any result. It is not certified, accredited or approved by any court, employer, regulator, treatment provider or recovery fellowship, and we make no such claim.
Where it may fit
Useful when the client is in charge
P in the Cup suits independent coaches, peer supporters and group facilitators whose clients are adults acting on their own goals.
Neutral scheduling
The days are chosen in advance by the service, so you are never the person "picking" a day. That can keep your relationship with a client focused on support.
Goals to talk about
Check-in streaks and participation milestones give you and your client something concrete and positive to discuss.
Client-controlled sharing
You see only what your client chooses to share with you, and they can change that or withdraw. You have no override. Privacy Explained.
Good practice
Using it respectfully with clients
- Offer it as an option, never as a condition of working with you.
- Let the client create their own account and invite you, so the arrangement is theirs.
- Agree the minimum information you need to see, and nothing more.
- Remind clients that home tests are screening tests: the FDA advises laboratory confirmation of a preliminary positive before serious action, and notes that a negative does not rule out use.
- Recognise participation and effort; avoid shaming language about results.
- Know your limits. If a client needs clinical care, refer them to qualified professionals; the Trust & Support Library lists referral services such as the SAMHSA National Helpline.
- Make sure the client knows they can leave the arrangement at any time.
Costs
The random scheduling and accountability service is free. Test kits and any laboratory testing are purchased separately. P in the Cup does not sell, supply or administer tests, and there is no paid professional tier.
Example persona
"Morgan", an independent life coach
This is a fictional example, not a real coach. One of Morgan's adult clients asks for help keeping a personal commitment. The client creates an account, sets a schedule, and invites Morgan to see only check-in completion. In sessions they talk about the streak and what made the week harder or easier. When the client decides they no longer need it, they end the arrangement themselves.
